Rails are an inexpensive marker platform designed for a similar market as Fusions, Ions, and similar mid-level markers.
The PMR exists as a slimmer version of the upgraded and expanded Proto Matrix and Dye Matrix markers. In similar fashion to other markers in the same price range, Rails have several cost-cutting features designed to keep the markup to an absolute minimum. In this case the main noticeable change is the use of several molded components instead of machined metal parts, however much of the marker from that point onward resembles a more expensive high-level marker in terms of machining, appearance, function, etc. Additionally, the marker is also upgradeable in many key spots, such as switching to an Ultralite frame (not pictured here) and many mainstream board developers have released upgraded Rail electronics packages.
